Well worth your time to read it. It addresses a lot of the misconceptions perpetuated on the internet. Hope it helps.

http://minnesota.publicradio.org/display/web/2009/10/16/ehresmann/Elizabethnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2750966252794891890.post-32820533788866488062009-10-15T16:26:36.854-07:002009-10-15T16:26:36.854-07:00I'm taking my kids to get the mist tomorrow. ...I'm taking my kids to get the mist tomorrow. "Healthy adults" don't qualify for it here at the moment, otherwise I would do it, too. I have friends with really ill kids right now -- the moms are scared and tell me they haven't seen anything like this. My pediatrician, whom I really trust, highly recommended we get vaccinated. My own reading assures me this vaccine is as safe as the seasonal shots which we get every year. Good luck deciding -- it is agonizing!Melindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13050910589135392947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2750966252794891890.post-42764124186644131152009-10-14T08:34:54.865-07:002009-10-14T08:34:54.865-07:00We aren't going to get it just because it'...We aren't going to get it just because it's new and the research scares me. But I don't have a newborn to worry about and this season is already bad. That would probably change my mind. 30% of kids in Boise was reported yesterday to have it right now! We are being hyper about washing hands, and we were told to even have your kids change their shirts after school (because of sneezing, coughing, etc.) Hope that helps.Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16229895418048946581noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2750966252794891890.post-37897853987488092832009-10-13T19:37:37.784-07:002009-10-13T19:37:37.784-07:00I work in a NICU and recently asked one of our NNP...I work in a NICU and recently asked one of our NNP's what she thought of the vaccine for my own baby. She said she would get it and have her children get it. If that were to get into our NICU, it would be devastating. If you don't get the shot, your daughter will be born without any immunity and will be too young to get the shot. Your school aged children are in the population most likely to get it. Your baby will be most vulnerable at the time the flu will be most prevalent...for both types of flu.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2750966252794891890.post-57406460440110742822009-10-13T17:25:52.742-07:002009-10-13T17:25:52.742-07:00If the shot is available, I will get it, and get i...If the shot is available, I will get it, and get it for my kids if I can. Part of me see's it as political propoganda with so much media hype. I don't want to sucum to that but then again we are told of the diseases and such in the last days. Yeah yeah yeah - pray about it whic I am but i am not one with the gift of hearing those answers easily. - what to do. I have had several doctors say not to get it as well as not getting the normal flu shot but then yesterday the radio was inundated with reports of dying healthy children and adults here in America......Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05580057302414400125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2750966252794891890.post-11414504216211030542009-10-13T09:41:07.782-07:002009-10-13T09:41:07.782-07:00This is the theory that makes since to me right no...This is the theory that makes since to me right now. Of course wash hands more often etc. but get a pneumonia shot because that is what the major complication of H1N1 seems to be for those that had died or are very ill. I would wait until after you have your follow-up ob/gyn. Your body doesn't need to fight another issue to the system while it is working to help bring Gummy Bear safely in your arms. (Good girl going/flipping the correct way) The doctors that I have as parents my students have ALL said that they would not give the H1N1 to their family. The pneumonia makes since them. Hope this helps and I think Gummy Bear will make her arrival on the 29th. My preschoolers think Friday,16th coz then "She could go on the field trip with us!"mehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02862203003427970904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2750966252794891890.post-63588818002273487062009-10-13T07:21:19.422-07:002009-10-13T07:21:19.422-07:00Oh goodness. After researching and thinking it through, I would turn to prayer for a confirmation. Sorry I don't have a good solid answer for you. On the other hand, with my health issues, it would be pretty ugly if I caught it.

Hard decision, and it would be even worse if I had kids to decide about.

So I'm no help at all, basically. One thing's for sure, I am going to be washing my hands a lot and staying away from anyone that looks feverish or had a cough.

"/Susan Andersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16049586085703324088noreply@blogger.com
