Writer's Workshop: Evie 's Day

I thought I'd give Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop a try.  She listed a few prompts, and this is the one I chose:

Could a routine become interesting through words? Write about a person (perhaps you) caught up in a daily routine. Establish a rhythm with the story’s words that impersonates the rhythm of the routine.

See what you think:

Waking. Looking. Rolling. Whining.
I need my mom.

Suckle, suckle. Slurp. Burp. Suckle, suckle. Slurp. Burp. Urp (all over on Mom's shirt)
Playing. Crying. Sleeping. Sighing.
Where's my pacy?

Suckle, suckle. Slurp. Burp. Suckle, suckle. Slurp. Burp. Poop (oops, not that goop!)
Swinging. Cooing. Sleeping. Sighing.
I love my dolly.

Suckle, suckle. Slurp. Burp. Suckle, suckle. Slurp. Burp. Think I'll smile for a little while.
Bathing. Gooing. Snuggling. Sighing.
What should we do now?

Suckle, suckle. Slurp. Burp. Suckle, suckle, Slurp. Burp.
I love you. Goodnight.

See you in the morning.

  1. And not only cute, but you've definitely got that rhythm thing going!

  2. Very nicely adorable...and I love the way you put it in poem form...thanks for making me smile...have a great day!

  3. Aw, that was perfect. Oh to have the simple life of a newborn. :)

  4. Great job, I think you nailed it!

  5. I love it! So cute, and really does make the day to day baby routine seem charming and yes, even interesting! (Even though I know you wouldn't miss a minute of it!) Good job. Your little one is beautiful, by the way.

  6. That's really cute! I looked at the writer's workshop prompts and when I saw that prompt I thought it would be the hardest-I didn't even know how to do it. But you did it! Very cute!

  7. What a cutie! Can't wait to see you and kiss that baby! Buying my ticket right now...

  8. Sweet! And I think that is pretty much the way it goes!! Love the photo ... and thanks for the visit earlier today.

  9. I love this! Absolutely precious. This is what I chose...yours is better!

  10. You did a fantastic job on this assignment, which was really not all that easy.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.
