I Swear I Didn't Stage This

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. We've been a little ocupado around the Sanatorium.

What I really wanted to post was a huge Thank-you Kiss for all of your personal and kind comments yesterday. Thanks for reading, and thanks for commenting. I want to email each of you personally, and I plan to do that tomorrow. These two commenters have no email address, so . . .

Catherine--I was wondering where you've been. So sorry to hear about your challenge. Email me, would you? jenny.denton@cox.net

Nikki--Talk about a surprise! I'm so flattered. Truly. I thought my mom was the only person besides me that had read every single one of my posts. Thank you. Email me too!

This is what has been keeping me busy yesterday and today:

Lily was home from school with the flu--a flu so terrible and devastating that I found her on the floor of her bedroom Tuesday morning, two small puddles of bile on the carpet. TMI, right? Just keeping it real.

She was sick all day, and another, even bigger surprise awaited me when I picked Ben up from football practice. He has been recovering from his yearly bout with bronchitis, nothing weird there.  Then, the bombshell--shortness of breath; inability to take a full breath.

This is one of the times that I count myself extremely lucky to have a very dear friend who happens to be our family doctor.  A quick text and a thermometer and stethoscope investigation later, and my suspicions were confirmed--possible pneumonia.

Fast forward to today, 11:50 am (I even left the time and date on the x-rays to prove this is no fabrication!).  I kept the two little kids interested in McDonald's chicken nuggets while the techs took two pictures of Ben's insides.

And what did they find?  Two VERY healthy lungs, just aggravated with a post-infection inflammation.

Good news:  If he's up to it, he can suit up and play the Homecoming football game tomorrow.

Bad news:  He has to eat humble pie after making the announcement on Facebook that he doesn't really have pneumonia.

Not that bad of news.

X rays courtesy of SimonMed Imaging, just in time for Alphabe-Thursday.  Can you believe my luck?

  1. Jen, I think you're striving just a tad toooooo much - the xrays for today's post have left the rest of feeling a little, er, inadequate - like we could have tried a little bit harder! :-)

  6. I guess that makes you and Ben Alphabe-Thursday partners!

For some reason, I couldn't link up to Alpahbe-Thursday today. I've refreshed the page many times but the Mr. Linky tool never shows up for me.

  7. Well, it just sounds like there is never a dull moment in the Sanatorium.
My day today is dull. I'm a little giddy about it, but I won't rub it in.

Sorry about the barfy child. Nothing worse than barfing.

Hope you enjoy your homecoming weekend!

  8. X-ray with a happy ending makes an Xcellent X post!

I also appreciate your post of yesterday, and I can relate entirely... I do blog for me, for a number of good reasons, but occasionally I feel I spend too much time on it at the expense of other areas of my life.

  9. So are those little hazy white areas part of the post infection? I'm just trying to learn. Xrays fascinate me for some reason.

  13. Oh dear... I know that "X" is a hard letter to write for but man, what a way to get your writing material! At least both Lily and Ben are doing better today, right? And it's a really good thing that Ben didn't have to miss playing homecoming because that would have sucked big time. I agree with ellen b....you win this week's "x" post!

  17. You would think that in my line of work that I would be able to look at an x-ray and determine SOMETHING from them, but radiology is a totally different field and I could never tell what I was looking at in x-rays. Having said that, I'm happy there is no pneumonia, but sorry about the flu. You just reminded me that I need to go drag my kiddos in for flu shots.

  18. Well rats! I should have gotten a chest x-ray for my x post. That would have been really cool!

    Or not.

I'm glad that ended up okay...there is a lot of flu and bronchitis going around, isn't there?

Thanks for sharing this week. Sorry you had to get the x-ray at all, though!

    A+
