A Whirlwind of a Week

After my big confession about Pinterest and Facebook, I'm sure you all expected an avalanche of pins and hundreds of friend connections, right?

This week has been unbelievably hectic.  I hosted a wedding here on Friday (thanks, Kelly and Kevin, Helen, and Devin).

That alone would have been busy.  In addition to the wedding, a friend's two-year-old daughter was diagnosed with leukemia.  As leader of our ward (an LDS congregation), Brad has been extremely busy, back and forth from the hospital, counseling and comforting.  I wanted to find any way I could help the family, but their request for privacy at this time was fully understandable.  I got a call on Wednesday that what Anndrea wanted more than anything was help setting up a blog to chronicle Katie's journey through leukemia.  Now that's something I could help with.  I spent a few hours at the hospital on Wednesday, a few more hours setting up the site (littlekatiesplace.blogspot.com), and a few more hours on Saturday teaching them how to post pictures, import a slide show, etc.  I couldn't have spent my spare hours this week in any better way. If you have any spare room in your prayers, add Katie and her family.  It's going to be a long road.

I'm hoping life settles back to normal this week.  I need some time to plot out the holidays, plan a few parties, decide on a gift strategy, etc.  I have tried to navigate Pinterest a few times, but I'm finding the learning curve kind of steep.  Anybody local wanna volunteer an hour to give me a one-on-one tutorial?  Is it because I don't Facebook?

  1. That is a FANTASTIC way to spend your spare time! I'm impressed that you found time for everything this week. Once you get the hang of pinterest it's fun, but it's one of those "good, better, best" situations and it sounds like you spent your week doing some of those "best" things!

  3. Pinterest is super easy. And I don't know anything about Facebook. I just googled "How to do Pinterest" and someone out in blog land had a step by step tutorial. You will find one and just follow it to get started. Tip: When you pin, take an extra minute to go to the original post and pin from there. Just don't repin the pin you see on Pinterest. (You will thank me later). Have fun!

  5. I visited the blog and it looks great. I know it will be a strength and source of comfort for them.

My nephew is a survivor of that same cancer. It's a toughie, but he's had 20 wonderful years of good health since his diagnosis. And I have to believe that treatment modalities have improved a lot since then, which is so hopeful.

    =)

  6. Sounds like your week has been unbelievable.
Hope you get lots done this week.

I went over to the blog and it is so sweet. What a sweet little face. My prayers are with her and her parents.

Maybe you should stay away from pinterest for awhile.....it's an incredible waste....I mean wonderful use of time.

  11. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's daughter. She's definitely going onto my prayer list. It just breaks my heart to know that someone so young has leukemia....I'm definitely praying that it'll go away!
