My Mother's Day

I don't ask a lot for Mother's Day.  Sleep in.  No chores.  No fighting.

I did get to sleep in--until Hyrum and Evie couldn't contain their excitement one more second and they burst through my bedroom door with fruit salad, cinnamon raisin toast and a few homemade gifts.

Ben penned a limerick and made me laugh.  Evie gave me a card with her hands traced on them--and she decided to pee pee in the potty for the first time ever.  Lily spent her first babysitting money to buy me earrings.  Micah made me a necklace and plate out of clay.  Hyrum made me a clay hand print. Brad did all of my duties for the day.  Heidi called from Rexburg--don't know if you all know she's pregnant again and sick as a dog.

But the best thing of the day was a phone call from NYC. Our missionary is allowed to call home twice a year--Mother's Day and Christmas.  It was almost as good as Christmas.  Here are a few clips from the forty-two minutes we spent laughing, singing, talking and just enjoying time with him.

Here's a google image of gui, the hamster he was talking about:
Where do you find hamsters to cook in in NYC?  I don't wanna know.  Hope your Mother's Day was as happy as mine.  I can't think of anything I love better than being surrounded by my loud crazy family.

  2. I remember the joy of talking to my guys on Mother's Day and Christmas. It was the very best part.

And I recognize the look in your eyes because I've had it in mine.

    Loved this.

    =)

PS. And the commotion is very familiar to me, too. ;)

  4. I enjoyed that so much - and I don't even know Tucker! What a fun conversation with him. I especially loved Evie putting in her two cents, and Hyrum and Micah sword fighting. Awesome family. Talking to your missionary on Mother's Day is the best - even better than Christmas!
