It Was Her First Time

She looked pretty cool, didn't she?
She acted pretty cool, too, until the hygienist asked her to open up her mouth.  The dentist is scary even for some big people, so I understand three year olds being scared.
She was so tense about the whole thing that she kicked her legs up and grabbed her thighs hard to prevent herself from kicking and screaming while they examined her teeth.

Yeah.  I can't wait until they fill her one cavity. It could get very interesting.

This little guy is a dentist pro.
Remember all of his crowns and silver teeth?  He knows from experience that check-up day is easy day.
Maybe there's a future career in this somewhere.
Micah was pretty chill about the whole experience.  After all, he was the big brother and he couldn't let his younger siblings see him freak out about it.
He wasn't quite so happy when he found out that he has three cavities, and neither was I.
What is it about the dentist's office that makes getting a toothbrush, toothpaste and floss almost as good as Christmas?

What is it that makes a toothbrush, toothpaste and floss not so exciting when Mom gets them at the grocery store?

  1. It's true. My kids always acted like they'd won the lottery with those toothbrushes and small tubes of toothpaste.

  2. Lest you forget the dentists "treasure chest" too. That is worth someone poking around in your mouth for sure.
3 cavaties: $Cha Ching$ even with dental insurance.
The reason it's better from the dentist is because it's FREE!!!!!

  3. It's a gift - and everyone likes a gift! Mia and Hayden had their first dental checkups with their grandpa recently - how handy to have a grandpa who's a dentist!

  5. Well, I swap their old toothbrushes from the dentist with the same brand from the store, so they don’t really notice it. Whatever keeps them using it diligently, I guess. Haha!

I guess it’s understandable because it is her first time. At least now she knows she doesn’t have anything to worry about when she needs to come over to the dentist for her next appointment.

  6. Good thing your daughter knows how to control herself while the dentist is busy with her checkup. She's courageous enough to let the dentist examine her teeth, though she has her legs up. Well, I know the dentist didn't mind at all. Hehe! With regards to the giveaways, I think it's the dentist's simple reminder of the materials they should properly use in order to keep their teeth healthy. :)

  9. Haha! Your last remark was hilarious, but it does make sense. :D Well, maybe, when at the dentist’s office, getting a toothbrush and other things seems like a reward. It's like a return for behaving and being patient all throughout the checkup. On the other hand, mommies giving them dental care items seems like a reminder of a task they should diligently do everyday. It’s kind of unfair, but that’s how it works! ;)
