Homecoming Dinner

One of my favorite ways to interact with my teenagers is to host pre-dance dinners.

For homecoming this year, Ben's group only had three couples, and I really wanted to do something special for them.
I set up the shade tent in the back yard, trimmed the poles with tulle, lined the ceiling with lights and a lamp, covered the table with some beautiful fabric, and that created this intimate dining party for six.

Here are a few of the details:
I found these flower clips on clearance at Joann's and they made perfect napkin rings.
I love making these dinners special for the kids--they all exclaimed at little things like the name tags, flowers, and lights, and they were very gracious all night.
Dinner isn't all about the decor, and I was grateful I could turn the menu and the food over to my friend Shauna. She's an amazing cook.
After a vegetable appetizer, we served cranberry chicken, roasted red potatoes and asparagus, followed by a pear-raspberry pudding for dessert.
The food was beautiful and delicious.  The girls were gorgeous and gracious.  The boys were handsome and kind.
It was a perfect night.

Thanks, Ben, for allowing us to be part of your night.

  1. Wow, is all I can say. That is a talent I do not have. I could never have pulled that off. My senior went to Homecoming and the girl he asked had a Varsity Volleyball game from 7-9 pm that night (homecoming switched weekends because of Spud Harvest). I was actually relieved that he just went to cheer her on and then hurried to the dance afterward. (They did take the girls to a fun breakfast and had a fun day date planned).
