Oh, The Thinks That I Think

I can't slow my brain down these days.

School was never like this before.

I wake up thinking about public education. I stay awake late into the night, my brain bouncing from helping my kids learn better to refining the topic for my PowerPoint presentation. Never in my life have thoughts prevented me from sleeping, yet I find thinking almost better than sleep.

As I drive down the street, my mind creates questions to ask my case study's mother. While I run on the treadmill, I read article after article--"Underachieving Gifted," "Twice-Exceptional Students," "The Profoundly Gifted and Today's Society." I always have a notepad and a stack of articles with me, just in case I have a spare moment to think.

I alternate between dinner preparation and studying for tests.  The top hit on my google page has changed from my blog reader to ASU home.

I attend Church and volunteer at school and go to kids' games, but every experience somehow connects to my studies.  I want to talk about it with everyone I see, and I can't imagine anything more interesting to discuss.

My thoughts are continually percolating, and I can't write fast enough to record them and I can't process fast enough to remember them. It's like I've never thought anything ever before.

The more that I think, the more I realize that there are no easy solutions or quick fixes. That realization frustrates me, but I refuse to let it stop me.

There are not enough hours in a day or days in a week for me to think all of the thinks that I'm thinking.

But you can bet that I'll try.
