In February?

This doesn't look like February, does it?
When Utah cousins come to visit, everyone thinks it's time to swim. Under normal conditions, the Utah kids stay in the water while the Arizona kids wander to warmer activities. Our February weather was unseasonably hot (breaking records for reaching 90 degrees earlier than ever before), and the AZ kids stayed in the water much longer than I thought they would.

Normally, spring gives us a reprieve. Instead, spring decided to waive its rights to AZ and move us ever closer to summer.

I don't think I'm ready for this whole summer thing. It's coming whether I like it or not, but this year I feel especially unprepared. AZ summer isn't for everyone, I understand that. Having survived 21 AZ summers I know what's coming--burning your backside on the driver's seat, timing activities early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the sun, wishing for just a hint of cool in the air.

It's March and I'm already pining the loss of cool weather? This is gonna be a long one, people.

  2. Last week it seemed like we were getting warm, but it's freezing today and raining cats and dogs. I am kinda looking forward to summer, but we so need the rain. I think it will be fun to have the twins in the pool now that they are old enough to really enjoy it, though.

    =)
