Curse You, Proctor and Gamble

I have a flaw to admit.

I am sweaty.

For those of you who have ever run with me, this is no secret.
I can sweat any man under the table.
I could win bar room bets with this skill.

Having voiced this information, I can now express to you my extreme displeasure with Proctor and Gamble.
You see, it took me many years to find a deoderant that could curb my overactive sweat glands. Many brands, many barely used sticks, roll-ons, and sprays. Nothing was completely effective.
Until I discovered it.
Secret Platinum Soft Solid, powder fresh scent.
It was a miracle in a 3.2 oz. tube.
I could wear dark t-shirts again. I could wear form-fitting dresses while teaching Gospel Doctrine again. I could live again.
And I bought it in cases. Just to follow the Prophet's counsel of storage and preparation.
When I opened the cupboard last week to remove another miracle stick, I noticed my precious supply was dwindling--down to four. I entered it onto my grocery list, and headed to Safeway.
This is when I began to panic.
You see, after going to every grocery store on my rounds, including Target and Walmart, I've discovered that P&G no longer makes Secret Platinum Soft Solid powder fresh scent. Oh sure, they've developed a new line, Secret Platinum Flawless. And they still make the Invisible Solid. But neither of them works. I've tried. And I know.

What am I going to do?
Am I resigned to live the rest of my life, including the hot flashes of menopause, with sopped tops?

This is truly a crisis.
I've never headed a protest march before . . .

  1. This sounds just like the story of my mother's life!! I promise you, every time she finds a product that really works, the formula is changed. She has all sorts of things stockpiled for that very reason. UGHHH, so sorry for your dilemma. So sorry.

By the way, I was devastated to read that you don't always agree with me. Dang it, just when you think you can count on a new friend! :) ((hugs))

  2. Try the clinical strenght ones. Clinical Dove, Secret, and degree. They are GREAT! Try them all to see which ones you like best. Yes, they are more expensive, but right now I think Clinical Sure has a try me free rebate.

  3. Ok, so just for fun and because I am weird like this(I LOVE scouring the web for discontinued items)...I googled "Secret Platinum Soft Solid, powder fresh scent". Somebody is selling 10 of them on EBay.

  4. I have a really good friend who is super sweaty also. She has struggled with the curse for many years but claims she has found the solution. It's called Drysol. Here's a website about it http://www.drugs.com/cdi/drysol-solution.html. I have not tried it myself but she swears by it. Good luck with your dilemma.

  5. Several thoughts:
    1. You told everyone you're sweaty?! And not the hot and sexy kind of sweaty either.
    2. Who knew they sold this kind of stuff on eBay?
    3. For eight bucks a pop? I'm in the wrong business.

  6. I have been using the velvet powder Secret (soft solid) for some time now and will NOT be happy about this either. Right now I'm trying Mitchum powder scent, and it seems to be working pretty well. It's a soft solid, too.

In the meantime, I'm thinkin' you should snap up the ones that Natalie found on e-Bay. (What a pal you are, Natalie!)

  7. I just hate it when companies change things. Just about the time you find a lipstick, or shoes, or whatever that you love, they go and change. So very sorry for your loss. I feel your pain.

  8. I don't know you sorry for eavesdropping. But I have been cursed with the same ability. I have tried the Secret Clinical Strength and I love it. I hate how it costs so much more, but it works GREAT! Try it.

  9. Jacquie uses this stuff at night called Certin Dry. Works great. One day you could see she put in under one arm and not the other. It works that well. Than secret during the day.

  10. I was not aware of this tragic flaw on your behalf. I'm afraid I'll have to reconsider our friendship from here on out. However, I totally understand the hating of the P&G, I mean, who are they to go and discontinue perfectly good products? I hate Always, 'cause seriously, WHY are they' constantly changing their stuff. Their stuff that already worked great. So annoying!! Good luck on the hunt for the next power deoderant.

  11. You can go to the dermatologist (Sp?) and get a perscription for Hypercare. I put it on twice a week max and the wetness has stopped. Great product!
