So mom's idea was that we'd have a carefully prepared lasagna for dinner. But that required some thought (putting it in the oven, figuring out how to do the timer delay thing, remembering all this before church, getting dishes dirty, etc.). So we did ham sammiches on the front lawn instead. Way funner, just as tasty. And no dishes. And real soda pop!
After that we went over to the neighbor's place and played on the swings, teeter-totter, etc. Another evening in paradise.
