Blog Infiltrated in My Absence

I guess I should have thought of a more clever password than "bradishot."

Heidi and I have completed the most miserable of our Amazing Race around the state of New York. The redeye flight sounded much better during planning than it actually was. Heidi hardly slept on the plane, but she did manage to swing a three-hour nap on the floor of JFK.
First impression of NYC--does everyone always wear boring neutral colors here? Heidi's red parka and my orange jacket were immediate signs that we weren't natives!
Heidi at the international date line, posing in two countries simultaneously.

When we got to Rochester and got our car (somehow I can't move my pictures today. The car is a schweet Pontiac G5. Know you're jealous!), we drove about 2 hours to Niagara Falls.
I even convinced Heidi to ride the huge ferris wheel, only because it was completely enclosed, and because her dad wasn't there to torment her and rock it maliciously.

The falls were gorgeous. I grew up in Twin Falls with its Shoshone Falls, touted as 'the Niagara of the West.' Although Shoshone is taller, Niagara is spectacular. All the mist is frozen, partially blocking the view, and there's still a huge flue in the middle of the river below the falls.

Heidi promised her friend Leslie that she would take pics of heel clicks wherever possible. And I don't think we'll capture a better one than this one. I guess that will be my goal.

Aside from blog forgery and a shattered crock, it sounds like no one needs me at home . . . . So I guess I'll watch Amazing Race, and turn in. It's been since Friday night that I've had a bed.
Tomorrow--Palmyra.
And, Jamie, I have no clue who that is, so let 'er rip!
So long from upstate NY!

  2. Looks like a fabulous and fun trip. What a great opportunity for the two of you to have this time alone before she goes off to the big world of Rexburg!

As to the bookshelf-if I could stick out my tongue at you, I would! I have no idea how to control what shows up, I was trying to find ideas for more books I would like, so I went there and marked all the books I have read and plan to read (mostly bookclub) and for whatever reason those come up first. Maybe your barb will be motivation to fiddle around with it...maybe...

  3. For the record, the Canadian side of Niagra is WAYYYYYYYY better. It's still amazing and all, but just trust me, way cooler! So glad you got to see it though. And that heel click...IMPRESSIVE!!
