Saturday was Prom. And I don't think I've ever seen Tucker so worked up and excited. And that's sayin' somethin', because the boy has always been a bundle of excitement and chaos.
Looking good, no? That's my handsome guy. And isn't she gorgeous? He even bought Karli a dozen roses. They were so cute together, and her dress was something else. I had heard the story behind it--how she fell in love with it, but it cost too much, then her grandpa surprised her with it. But WOW. It was really something--a little difficult to maneuver into and out of vehicles, but who ever said beauty was easy?
After the dance, the seven couples came over for dessert. I see most of these kids every Monday for "Bac'n Mac" (see this post if you are unfamiliar with the term), so it was fun to see them all glammed up. Hannah summed it up when she said they had come full circle. Their first dance as sophomores had been at our house. And now their last.
A little melancholy. And not just me.
It's almost over. Didn't I just lose a kid?
That is a gorgeous dress, what a beautiful color! They look so excited, and happy. Can't believe he's almost ready to graduate, seems like you did this last year, oh wait--you did! Thank goodness Ben is a few years behind.
ReplyDeleteSigh... I have loved this. There's nothing like living with a really happy teenager! And, surprisingly, no melancholy here :) K had a super wonderful time and said dessert delicious and the porch was beautiful with all the Chinese lanterns and candles. You always outdo yourself! :)
ReplyDeleteWOW! That really is some kind of a dress. I want to see some better, more full bodied pictures. But truly, they BOTH look gorgeous. Tucker is such a handsome kid. I might get a little misty myself, just thinking about him graduating and moving away so quickly. Wasn't he just that insane little 11 year old doing laps around my living room? HOW did this much time pass us by?
ReplyDeleteThat's gorgeous, like a wedding dress! In fact, it reminds me of one that a friend of Ryan's got married in. (Except for the color, of course!) And your son looked amazing, too.
ReplyDeleteThe senior year does tug at the heartstrings, doesn't it? So joyful, so poignant...
It defines the word "bittersweet," that's for sure.
=)
Wow, they both look great! The dress is beautiful. How fun to be able to do these things with your kids. :) It's nice that they come to you for special things like this. That seems like it would be one of the best things about having kiddos.
ReplyDeleteoh Jen... first Heidi going off and getting all married and now Tucker to the prom...and man is he one handsome guy! Go cuddle that baby of yours! Lovely pictures!!
ReplyDeletethat dress was simply stunning...the color is incredible w/her hair/skin etc....they look amazing together!
ReplyDeleteawww the days of prom when you can be a princess again for a day!!!
your son looks radiantly handsome too!!
What a handsome boy! It must be bittersweet to have him graduating soon, but it appears that you have done a great job raising him.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful couple. Her dress is gorgeous.
Oh Jen, they both look beautiful! (Yes, I just called him beautiful...he is, really.)
ReplyDeleteAnd her dress, I LOVE it. I'm hoping to find a boy like this for my girl. They grow up way too fast don't they?
Oh PROM!
ReplyDeleteAnd that bac 'n' mac--seriously??!! How are you so thin??
I really don't know how I wandered my way over today - but I'm sure glad I did - the photos are beautiful! I love prom! As I have no more to look forward to with my kids - I'm sure glad I was able to enjoy your photos! They are darling.

I find that prom is much more fun to live through your kids. My favorite part of my own prom was getting ready! Karli and Tucker are gorgeous
ReplyDeleteKarli is just beautiful!! Tucker so handsome!!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I will miss tuesdays.
What a handsome son you have! Love the dress!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - what an amazing dress!! And RED (refer to SUE'S POST) - I love red! Your son is so handsome - what a cute couple! I loved all the dances and dressing up and flowers and, and, well everything! I came across the old pictures just recently, and they gave me such sweet memories looking through them. It seems like when the kids get this age, their lives go on hyperdrive - so many big moments and milestones. It's hard to take it all in sometimes so take lots of pictures so you'll be able to enjoy it later too! You have such a pretty family!
ReplyDeleteSeriously! They look great! Ahhhh, to be young again... I bet it is fun to watch your kids go through those fun times.
ReplyDeletevery beautiful couple...they look so happy...pretty dress and your son is a handsome man...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous couple!
ReplyDeleteYour son is one handsome dude :D
And that dress...sigh...do die for!! So elegant :D
There is just nothing like watching the kids go to Prom and it is a double bonus if they come back to your house - I always loved that!!
I wish I could do prom all over again just to wear that dress!!!
ReplyDeleteThey both look amazing!! And how nice to see a high school girl in an amazing dress that doesn't make her look like she should have a ahem night job.
