This and That and the Other Thing

#1--Thanks for all of your interesting comments on Thursday. I was amazed at who is reading and where you're from (Catherine, thanks for de-lurking from New Zealand!). I wish you all had email addresses so I could respond personally. But thanks. And I'll be stopping by your blogs if you're writing.
#2--Britt--I'm so going to buy that kangaroo pocket.
#3--I am thrilled to report that the weather forecast has been updated and rain has disappeared from the prediction. Here's my take on it: Prayer is a tricky thing. Sometimes we ask for miracles and don't receive them. Other times we don't even ask and the miracle happens. And some blessings, I truly believe, are predicated on us ASKING. I know we could do the reception in the rain, but it mattered to me to have it be clear. And sometimes, we as parents give our kids things just because they ask. Maybe, just maybe, the weather cleared because I (and you) asked.
Thanks.
Three days.

Thanks for helping me with my bathroom despite your crazy week!
Funny, Mark was in Hyde Park for a year too...fun place. His roommate was at U of C and he was finishing up College at the time. :)

  2. My mom always said the strongest words you will EVER say...is a prayer.

I honestly believe having prayer warriors praying for you and your Heidi (all the way from New Zealand!) made a difference.

I can't wait to see pics of the reception, oh and of the dress...I want to see the full-fledge picture of the dress!

    Hugs from KC,

  3. OK, I feel like it is time that I came clean. I've almost done it a dozen times. Left a comment to tell you how much I enjoy reading your blog. Wanted to tell you I think they are funny, insightful, thought provoking, the works. But was afraid. What if you didn't want my comment. What if you didn't want me following your blog. What if you thought to yourself...I should go private so people like "her" don't know what is going on in my life and head. Anyway. I might as well come clean. Others know I read. For all I know, you know I read. So in the spirit of full disclosure--your blog is one of my guilty pleasures. One of my favorite. The first I check when I sit at my computer. I loke the photos. I like that you blog often so every day I get something new to entertain and read. Heidi's upcoming wedding is in my thoughts every day. (Not as much as yours of course) But I am excited with anticipation. She is so great and I want her to be soo happy. I hope the day is everything you desire and more. There. That feels better. Full disclosure :)

  10. Thanks for the wee shout-out on your blog. It made my day. Just as you took the plunge, so I have taken on something big. I probably wouldn't have done it if I hadn't read your blog entry. My hubby is a real achiever - PhD student, specialist surgeon, member of the NZ Army and has served in Afghanistan, now has a patent on an invention that is attracting overseas interest. Me - I'm a SAHM. I was asked to go on a committee and initially thought they'd asked the wrong family member, but have said yes to the challenge which is outside my comfort zone - just as you pushed your comfort levels. Thanks for the inspiration to say 'yes'. It'll be good for me I know. Thanks Jen, and sending many prayers and good wishes your way for less than 44 hours times. Can't wait to see photos of you all including your red shoes. Catherine

  12. Very interesting article. I would love to read the book “Start with Why”, by Simon Sinek. I think he has taken a great topic to deal with.
