Confessions, Crises, and Corrections

It all began with one of these.  Tucker brought me a small bag of chocolate-covered cinnamon bears from BYU.  I'd never had one, heard of their tastiness, and decided I could recover from eating just one.
I  was wrong.  The entire (albeit small) bag disappeared to I-can't-imagine-where.  And it was downhill from there.  A double batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies.  I'll never be strong enough to withstand their unique temptation.  I realized that anew yesterday.

And you know how you have a comfort level on the scale?  You know--those 2-3 numbers that the scale fluctuates between and life's still livable?  My numbers are 1_2 to 1_5.  Today, that last number said 8.  Eight?  How did it get all the way up there?

Oh yeah. It's his fault.

You think you have something beat, and then reality rears its fuzzy little head.

I'm staying honest with y'all.  And I'm back on the train.

As for the second crisis (aside from the creeping scale), I accidentally DELETED my ENTIRE BLOG ROLL!  How this happened is beyond my understanding, but let's just attribute it to the crazy computer elves that gallivant in and out daily with the Smurfs.  It must be their fault.

I am going to try and replace it, but if your blog is still missing after a few days, PLEASE COMMENT!  This cyber world we live in is fragile and the trails we meander through space are unable to be retraced in many cases!

  1. I am sorry that you fell off the wagon and that you lost your blog list. Sometimes I wonder how we live with computers, but I also wonder how we would live without them. Hopefully you'll be able to recreate your blog list quickly and also get back on that wagon easily! I'm cheering for ya!

  2. Knowing you, your weight will soon be right back where you want it to be. I think it was the right decision to eat chocolate cinnamon bears from you darling son. My scale measures in .2 increments and that keeps me where I need to be. By the way, I have lost 13 of those nasty pounds so far and I am hoping for many more.

  3. Chocolate and cyber crashes - what a combination.
Big sympathy from here - but don't beat yourself up about the chocolate. It was a gift!

  4. The greater tragedy is BY FAR losing the blogroll. Are you kidding me? I would DIE! Good luck with that one.

As far as the sugar goes...I want some chocolate covered cinamon bears. YUM! But good for you for being as strong as you have for so long. I'm sure you'll be back on track in no time.

  5. Guilty!! Whenever I go to BYU I always have to have chocolate covered cinnamon bears and mint brownies - it's just a must and a tradition. Putting that picture up was really really not nice - hee hee!

Your blog roll is all still on your profile but bummer deleting it on the blog. Once I accidentally deleted my whole blog - it was not a happy day.

  6. You know, today as I was succumbing to the same monkey, after over a week. I thought of you and was wondering how you were doing...or if you were still trying to resist the sugar monkey. That is one persistent monkey...but all we can do is get back on that wagon and try again. Good luck!

  8. I brought home a bag of those recently. Lucky for me, L loved them. He didn't even share! His 6'5" 140 lb frame is much more forgiving than mine. Sugar is so my downfall. I do hear your cookies are very worth the slip up.

  10. I've never heard of chocolate covered cinnamon bears...YUM! How nice of your son to bring them for you. It amazes me that you can just give up sugar whenever you want...I'm sure you'll be back on the wagon in no time...that's just how you roll!

  11. Chocolate covered gummi bears....that just sounds too good to pass up! I'm amazed that you didn't get sick from all that sugar after having gone most of the summer with so little of it. Well, at least you admitted to yourself and to all of us that you had a slight hiccup. Admitting is always a good step towards recovery, right?

Sorry to hear about your blogroll. It's scary how easily things can be deleted and lost just like that isn't it? Good luck with rebuilding your list!

  12. Chocolate-covered cinnamon bears, huh? Sounds interesting!

I suspect you will be back in your normal weight range soon. (And I now realize why I will NEVER be back in my normal weight range...I don't even HAVE "comfort numbers.") Maybe I need to rethink that!

As for your blog roll, that's a drag, but I think it's all in your profile, if I remember right.

    =)

  13. Ah yes - the comfort numbers. And they're always fluctuating. I'm trying hard to make mine go down. Consistently. But it's so slow that it's imperceptible. And then they go up again. It's hard to win...

  17. I also have a love/hate with my computer- as I have been without for nearly a week (you can probably tell that I'm catching up all in one day- soaking you in even) and I'm almost crazy. And chocolate covered cinnamon bears have been banned from this house.
