A Valentine Just for YOU

I just wanted to thank you all.  And I don't know how.

Your comments on Friday's post really touched my heart. Truly. In a "I-think-I-wanna-cry" kind of way.

I know that many of you are not of my faith.  I try to keep my blog mostly about my life as a mom and all the crazy antics going on around here.

That being said . . .

When your child decides to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it is a big deal. HUGE. There is a lot involved with this process, most of which tugs on every heart string a mother has.  And a few she didn't know she had before this whole experience starts.

I wanted to share the joy of that moment with you.  What an exciting day it was.  What an extraordinary process this will be.  I was afraid that many of you would not only not understand, but that you would be bugged.  Or annoyed.  Or put off.  Or alienated.  Or offended. Or angry.

I was wrong.  So happily wrong.

Thank you for your kind comments.  Thank you for your support. Thank you for sharing in the excitement of our lives.  Thank you for your friendship.  And thank you for sticking by me through the exciting things and the not-so-exciting things.

I love you all, and I love this tight-knit little group of cyber-friends I've forged. If I could reach out and hug you all, I would do it . . .  And bring you one of my giant homemade frosted heart-shaped sugar cookie valentines.  I would.  Really.

Happy Valentine's Day.  To you all.

I'm crying again.

  1. Happy Valentine's day to you. I should remember what you are going through when I am feeling overwhelmed with what I am going through. At least my oldest son is not leaving on a mission, right?

  16. Your post brought back happy memories and a few tears. Just wait to see him change before your eyes. I hate change, but this kind is so heartwarming. And it will pass so fast, you won't believe it. I just sent my sixth (and last) child on his mission in November. You will love it.

  17. Jen - just wanted to post (I think this is my first comment) cuz your blog really touches me. You and I are both moms and I have such admiration and respect for you and how you do all that you do! While we are not of the same religion (I'm Roman Catholic) we are both very deeply committed to our religions and our families. I LOVE to hear about what is going on in your life -and am not in the least bit offended by you mentioning your faith and how your family is actively living it. I am glad your son Tucker is happy with his assignment - I was happy in an odd sort of way - I'm only about 45 minutes from NYC and who knows maybe his path will cross mine someday? Meanwhile big hugs - keep blogging - and oh by the way no need to put frosting on my cookie - I love 'em with just sugar on top! LOL Ann Marie
