Officially In a Funk

I think I'm in a state officially deemed "funk."

I've missed almost an entire month of life: between my trip to California with Tucker, Heidi's baby being born, a trip to Idaho, packing up Tucker's stuff, attending Tucker's farewell Church meeting, and sending him off to Provo, I've somehow lost my direction and motivation.

On Sunday morning, I was surprisingly released from teaching my Institute class, a labor of love that completely overtook my life for the last ten months. That news, all alone, was difficult to take, but on top of the last month I've had, it about sent me over the edge.

School's out tomorrow, and I have little to nothing in place for our summer. That is not like me.

I try to keep it pretty upbeat here at the Sanatorium, but these last few weeks have been hard. Hard to accept all the transitions and changes and shocks to my psyche. So much change--some of it so hard to fathom. To say things have been hard is an understatement. I consider myself a pretty tough lady, but there have been a few times where I've teetered on the edge of sanity.

I decided today to shut the door on all of it. I'm done dwelling on any of it. Life changes, kids grow up, jobs in my Church come and then they go. And it's all good.

This funk is officially over.

Summer.

Bring it on.
 I'm back.  For good.

  6. Ooooh a trip to Seattle - the city I lived in for 6 1/2 years when first married and where my oldest two were born. Wish I could stowaway with you all as I love that place. Not surprised you've lost your groove but the other kids and Brad will help you get it back. Enjoy your summer (while I'm freezing near Antarctica in Dunedin). Cath

  11. I sort of understand what you are feeling! While my oldest is about to start Kindergarten, he will one day be off to the MTC...Our lives change and we either adapt and continue to function,or we remain stubborn and miserable! Thanks for following me, I am following you too!

  18. Well GOOD for you! I wish I could somehow shut the door on MY funk and move on. I'm so sick of being here in funkland. Hence a month of silence on the ol' bloggy. Anyway, hope you really do feel better and have a fab summer. Looks like you've got a lot to do on that there list.

  24. i double-heart your summer lists!!! you are the best mom ever. :)
i know how you feel. you hit the nail on the head entirely. i've been doing nothing but struggling with change in all the places i want to stay the same, and struggling with all the things that are static that i wish were more dynamic. short answer = i'm frustrated with life right now. perhaps a good summer list is in order here at our house as well! :) thanks for being so inspiring!

  27. My husband thinks I'm crazy. I started laughing so hard at your picture!

You've had so many changes...I think it takes some time for them to catch up with us...or us with them.

You'll have a great summer, you always think of things to do!

I'm glad you're looking ahead and not letting change pull you down into the abyss.

Thanks for a thoughtful (and funny) link this week.

    A+
