Sand

When I saw the prompt for this week from the Red Dress Club, I just couldn't resist.

SAND. GO.

That's the prompt.

I love the sound of the waves rolling in from the sea. The rhythm calms my soul.
I love the smell of the water and the salty kiss of the ocean breeze on my skin.
I hate sand.

Gritty, dirty
Sticky, poky.
Sand.

I've tried to overcome this abhorrence, really I have--
But I can't stand the feel of it against my skin or in my swimsuit or between my sock and shoe.

I hate sand.
Annoying, trying
Invasive, pervasive
Sand.

I've tried bringing lotion to apply as soon as it was washed from my body.  Always a grain or two would slip through my examinations to try my patience.

I hate sand.
Stealthy, sneaky
Itchy, scratchy
Sand.

I've tried wearing shoes--I didn't even flinch when the inevitable stares and whispered comments would titter around me.  If shoes solved the problem, then I would gladly be the lone sunbather in the Cons and socks.  They didn't.

I hate sand.
Bane of the beach
Enemy of my sanity
Sand.

Ew.

  1. I've always chalked sand up to the old "opposition in all things" stuff.

The ocean and everything else to do with it are so wonderful that there just had to be something uniquely annoying to even things out.

And sand does a mighty good job of that!

    =)

  5. There is nothing I like better than sitting my butt in a beach chair..beer in my hand..toes in the sand. Baby powder takes the sand off anything btw.

  7. i want to love it all the way, but there is just a point where i have to get it off. when i was in hawaii i had the hardest time getting it off of me. after a few days i got more used to it and considered loving it more, but then i came home and a bunch dumped out onto my couch and i hated it again:)

  8. This sand prompt has me wanting to go to the beach. I love everything about the beach. Except the sand that tries to come home with you.

  9. I love the beach - the sound of the waves, the salt air. The sand isn't my favorite part, but if it means being at the beach, I'll take it.

  10. Ask me how I feel about dust on a hiking trail, or bugs buzzing in your ear in the woods. It's kind of like you feel about sand. We all have something that drives us nuts I guess!
