Pike Place Market

Seattle.
What can I say?
Complete opposite of where we live.
Beautifully green.
Wet.
Cool.
Did I mention green?

I loved every second we were in the Northwest, and if it were feasible for us to move there, I'd do it tomorrow. Alas. There's this slight complication called "Brad's job." Highly unlikely that his clients will follow him that far. So for now, I have my memories.

And Brad constantly reminds me that we didn't have a typical Seattle weekend--only on rainy day. I don't care. I'd love rain every day.

We spent one afternoon in Seattle's famous Pike Place Market. It didn't disappoint.
The Pike Place pig.  Brad's cousin, who acted as our tour guide, said, "If the kids get separated, meet at the pig.  You'll know it when you see it."  She was right.

And the infamous Gum Wall.  For all its chewed gooey-ness and yuckiness, it was actually quite colorful and interesting.  How could we arrive at such a tourist site without gum?  A super kind lady shared her pre-chewed bounty with the kids, and they were thrilled to add to the collage.
Brad's cousins had their kids there, and from the moment Lily and Daisy laid eyes on each other, they were bosom buddies. Siamese twins. Completely inseparable and darling together. For three solid days. It was fun to watch.
We called them the "Flower Girls," for obvious reasons, and they wanted jewelry to wear "forever" to remember each other.  They ended up with these cute rose rings, after much, much, MUCH deliberation.
Now they email each other constantly and have even tried to skype and call.  I wish they were closer.  Daisy summed it up when she asked her mother where Lily had been:  "Why did I not know Lily even existed?"

It was a great trip.

Linking up to P and Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday.

Did you miss me last week?

  5. Seattle is the best. One of my best friends lives there and I'm long overdue for a visit. Now the trick is trying to find your gum when you go back for another visit.

I'm not sure what to think about that.

  10. What a wonderful Alphabe Thursday post. There is something special when you meet a kindred spirit, a la Anne of Green Gables. Seattle looks a lot like Vancouver and Granville Market. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
