V Is for . . .

. . . Verghese.

Shh.  Did you see the "Do Not Disturb" sign?

I'm reading.

Love this book so far.  I'm trying to pace myself and enjoy it over a few days instead of devouring it and then not remembering the beauty of the language.

But when it comes to a good book, I tend to get sucked in by the characters and the story and the always looming conclusion.  And that means that life around me becomes secondary--forget dinner, baths, kids, house.  What comes when I turn the page?

Trying to savor it . . .

This is why I only read about one book a month.

Linking up to Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday.

  3. This one is on our book club's list for 11-12 and I can't wait to read it. I'll be saving it for a weekend with nothing else on the schedule.

  5. Me too, I almost can't read, as life falls away until I've finished it.

  6. Hmmm...right now my reading is done in a single room in my house. The one with the bowl and the tub. Devouring is not an option. Though you will have to let us know about the book.

  7. Hmm, going to have to check this one out :) I totally understand the feeling of being sucked into a good book though. That's why when I get bitten by the reading bug, I tend to look a little ragged due to not sleeping until the book is complete :)

  8. I only read in my bed, I can't fall asleep without reading and there nobody disturbs me.

  11. Once I start a book I have trouble putting it down. I have to keep it in my bedroom so I will not get distracted from other things I need to do in a day.

  12. never heard of it. How would you rate it?

I am the same with reading, I TRY to read it slowly so I can relish in it, but I end up devouring. I say it's a sign of a good book. If I didn't want to really finish it, then why am I wasting my time reading it at all?

  15. I been reading a lot more lately. It is so nice to read at night in my bed....a few chapters at a time...and then still getting my sleep. I have actually been carrying my book around in my big purse too!
    Enjoy your weekend!

  16. I understand what you mean about getting into a great book... it's like wanting to go from cover to cover...and then once it's completed...I find myself wishing for a sequel...
