2012 Review Extravaganza

This is the third year I've participated in the year-end Review Extravaganza hosted by these lovely ladies.  I love going back through my posts and remembering what we've done and learned over the year.  It gives me renewed enthusiasm for blogging and the memories it preserves.

January

I began the year with my words for 2012 "Think Outside the Box."  I did pretty well with this resolution until June, which I find pretty good.  Time to start thinking of words to live by for 2013 . . .

I started my series, Elbow Grease and Paint Pants, divulging my not-so-secret auction addiction of 2012.  I can't believe how many projects I completed this last year.  You don't really notice it as much as you're living it day to day, but the record for the year surprised me.

I had a day-changing conversation with a stranger at IKEA.

And Brad took the kids for a nice overnight break for me--including an emergency trip for stitches.

February

Lily lived her lifelong dream of playing Medusa in the sixth grade play and got braces.

McDonald's drive-thru miracle--I wonder how that lady is doing now.

Decades of my life--One, Two, Three, Four, and Five. These are some of my favorite posts from the year--posts that allowed me to see myself better and remember times and experiences that have made me into the person I am now.

And who can forget our private screening of Phantom Menace?  That was AWESOME!!!  (In hindsight!)

March

Lily fulfilled her second life-long dream by winning the cross-country race and the relay with her sixth grade class.

I finally got my photos from Rexburg edited.  Love those wrestling boys. And Ben started rugby.

Hyrum got the first of three silver teeth and wrote his first note to the tooth fairy.

And I began my year-long series recording the births of my children, beginning with Hyrum Kimball on March 28.

Having concluded the birth stories this week (Heidi's was a saga, wasn't it?), I am most grateful this yearThat I took the time to write my feelings about each of my children and how I felt the day they became part of our family.

Thanks for hosting this review.  2012 really was a great year.

  2. Looks like a great year! And braces may suck as a youngan but later in life she'll truly appreciate you for making her go through them! I know I appreciate my parents anyway :).
