Foto Friday--A Big Blogging Day

If a picture paints a thousand words . . .
. . . what more could I say?

If a blogger posts 1,000 posts . . .
. . . what could I do for my readers?

Yes, my friends.  Today marks my 1,000th post here at Denton Sanatorium.  One thousand posts.  One THOUSAND posts.  I can't believe that number.

One thousand times I've written an entry in the book of my family's life.

One thousand times I've clicked publish.

One thousand times.

So much has changed in blogging and in the world at large since that fateful day in November 2008.  So much has changed in my life over the last thousand posts.

I wanted to have a little celebration here in my corner of the internet today, but since I couldn't bake all of you my famous chocolate chip cookies (which I will be doing today for a dear friend's wedding, BTW), I thought a little giveaway would be appropriate.

$50 gift card to my favorite of all favorites--the big red bull's-eye.
What do you have to do to be entered in the contest?

This may sound shallow of me (and it is, quite frankly), but I would really like to get to 300 followers before Google eliminates this tracking method from their system, so if you're not a follower, please click on the box in the column to the right and become a follower.

Then, simply leave a comment on this post.  Tell me what your favorite types of posts are, what your favorite post or photo of mine has been, what you'd like to have me write about, whatever.

I'll be spending the weekend in my family room watching General Conference with my family, eating treats and trying to listen.  When I venture back to the blogging world on Monday, I will pick a winner, so make sure your comment is posted by midnight on Sunday.

Thanks for being my friends and making my little corner of cyberspace such a happy place.

One-thousandth publish click.

  1. Congratulations! I love when you write about the home improvement projects you have done, and what you have found at auctions. I also love that your style of writing is relatable for me. It seems you don't sugar coat your life, you are who you are and that is that. Thank you for sharing your life's journey, the good, the bad, the pretty and ugly. Enjoy conference this weekend!

  2. HOLY CRAP!! You are awesome!!! Well, I already new that or you wouldn't be my besite...

  3. I love reading about your kids and how you mother them. My kiddos are 6, almost 3 (next week!) and one on the way. I'm grateful that you share the good and the bad. It helps me relate to you as a mother and see that just like you I can have bad days and I can choose to create good days.
My most recent favorite was a little while ago you posted a picture with Evie and she had a paci in her mouth and I thought "OK, Evie still has her's, I'm not that terrible for letting my daughter still have one (or three)" Then just a couple days ago you posted about how Evie is done with pacifiers. Hopefully, that will motivate me to get rid of ours, maybe!
    Thanks for continuing to blog.

  4. Congratulations!
I have a confession to make. I have read over and over the birth stories of all the Denton siblings. And sometimes I cry. Really, I've thought more than once that I need to thank you for being willing to talk about infertility and miscarriage. These are sometimes taboo subjects for whatever reason, but it has meant the world to me to know that we are not the only ones who have gone through this, and there are lots of happy endings in store. So those are my favorite posts.
Out of curiosity, is the dear friend's wedding Ashley Tucker? I wish I could be there!

  5. Hooray! Love the before and after's, the kid stories, and the pictures. You're doing a great job!

  6. i love the pictures!! seeing your family grow up and hearing all about what they are doing in their lives is so fun. and this isn't super relevant to your blog, but i just have to say...your chocolate chip cookies really are the best.

  7. congratulations! that's pretty amazing and cool. 1,000 posts is like 2 or 3 novels ;-)

  8. I follow your blog for all the motherhood posts :) You have great ideas that I can't wait to try with my own children. Thanks!

  9. 1000 posts! What an acomplishment. I love following your DIY before/after projects but mainly your motherhood posts! It is so refreshing to have such a true look at motherhood and all the ups and downs that come with it. I look forward your next 1000 posts! (I am also excited that you have less than 40 days until Tucker is HOME!!!!)

  10. Woohoo! You are at #292. I've been following you for years although I hardly ever comment.

  11. I forgot to add favorite post. How about your son throwing up at the movie theater and yet you stayed throughout the movie? ha. I love all of the types of posts that you do. I remember way back when you used to post about many years ago was that? I love the posts regarding your family, your home, auctions, deep soulful stuff....I guess all of it.

  12. I don't remember how I found your blog but I love to read it. I enjoy the parenting posts, the home improvement posts and when you mention rugby ( we are a rugby house!)

  13. My favorite posts relate to motherhood. Since I am a young mother, I like hearing from someone who's been there before.

    Congratulations on your 1000th post!

  14. What an accomplishment...congrats!!!

  15. Congratulations Jenny on 1,000 posts! Wow! Whether you are posting about your children, your adventures, your church or your auction finds....I enjoy it all and can learn a lot from you.

  16. I love the blogs about your family so I know what's going on! Love the pictures of your kids :)

  17. Wow! You are prolific! I'm not sure I'm even half as awesome as you.

Your posts are always fun and insightful and honest.

I loved the one that you devoted a week to speaking about the church.
    Very good.

I too am looking forward to conference. We've had some challenges in the Garden that have been trying. Dang the serpent.
We actually got tickets for the Sunday afternoon session, so we'll be treking to Utah to enjoy that.

  18. Follower #297. I don't know you but I came upon you a couple years ago and you are one of three blogs I check in with daily. I don't know why. I just like you. I like your family. I like that you are honest and share your life and your testimony with the world. Thanks for sharing and being a big part of my life.

  19. Well, I'm already a follower, but I'm here to say 'congratulations'! I love your posts and am always happy when I see that you've written something.

I love hearing about how you mother. You are wise and real all at the same time. You aren't afraid to try new things, when sometimes you fail and sometimes you succeed.

Thanks for giving us a window into your home!

  21. I'm follower #298...almost at your goal!

I like to read parenting posts.

  22. I stumbled upon your blog a few months ago through a friend, and I adore your blog. You keep it real. I've just enjoyed all of your posts so far--mothering, family, organizing, photography. Thanks for blogging!

  23. namaste's comment mirrored mine. You could have written 2 or 3 novels. Hmmmm..... I am glad to be kept up on some of the things your family is doing. LOVE

  24. i am already a follower:) my favorite picture is the one when you are hugging your son as he is leaving on his mission. love that moment. i love all of the posts you write about motherhood. you are a veteran, and i don't mean old, i mean smart smart smart in the ways of raising children! i look up to your example and admire your work as a mother. one of other recent posts you've done was your pantry makeover. it inspired me to redo my pantry and life has been easy breezy in the kitchen ever since! i love jen! period:)

  25. I am "your 300" in your 300 followers!
I have absolutely no idea how I came to follow your blog, probably through a friend of a friend... But what I do know is that I love your blog, and I really enjoy getting to know you and your family.
For me you are a great example of what motherhood is all about. Thank you for sharing your feeling with all of us, feelings about your faith, your love for your children (here or in heaven), your hobbies...
One of my favorites "published" posts was the one you wrote about your oldest daughter...when you were letting her go and start a new life with her new husband. She was your masterpiece.
It is true that as a mother we are trying our best to raise children knowing that one day they will leave us and start wonderful things by themselves.

Elodie, your French follower living in Austria, but when I started to follow your blog I was living in Tajikistan! See your good influence is reaching in far corner of this earth!

  26. Great Job! I love the pictures of your family just doing ordinary family things. Your growth in faith has been most helpful to me on many occasions. Sometimes I think we are cut from the same fabric.

  27. Follower 302 here! I have no clue how I came to read your blog, but I've been reading a long time. I love to read your mothering stories. I think they are the ones that keep us all feeling like we're doing a good enough job. :) Thanks so much for your honesty, and congrats on #1000!

  28. Holy cow, 1000 posts!! My favorite photo is the one of you hugging Tucker at the airport. I am so excited for the returned with honor photo at the airport in May! Thanks for keeping this far away Aunt in the loop about what your family is up to. Here's to 1000 more!

  29. I love the way that you take what I'm thinking and feeling and write it so beautifully. I also love all your normal family stuff that is so relatable. Go for another 1000.

  30. Congrats on 1,000, Jen. Of course, I am an long-time follower, but if I could join up again I would.

PS. My favorite posts are the ones about your family, but I also love the ones where you find bargain items and make them over, or when you make a whole room over. And I like the ones where you pick a word for New Year's, too. Actually, I like them all...

  31. oops...hi jen...i know i missed the deadline, but just wanted to say congrats on your 1000 post! WOW!!:)
i love reading all you write, but the birth stories, the funny posts about your kiddos, your home decor posts and the ones where you share about your heart are my faves!!:) (and i'm sure i left some out too!:) )
have a happy day jen and keep on bloggin

  32. WooHoo! Congrats on the big milestone, I know I've missed your giveaway, but that's okay--how weird would it be for me to stop by & demand you personally take me to Target to spend it? Weird! And, I don't think I could have stopped myself :) I love the ideas about parenting the older kids, you are a couple of steps ahead of me on that path, and I love learning from your experiences.

  33. Congratulations on the 1000th post! It's quite a milestone and I know it's not an easy feat for most bloggers. You've done an amazing job documenting and sharing all the little and big things in your families life :) Here's to another 1000 post!
