Foto Friday--A Big Blogging Day

If a picture paints a thousand words . . .
. . . what more could I say?

If a blogger posts 1,000 posts . . .
. . . what could I do for my readers?

Yes, my friends.  Today marks my 1,000th post here at Denton Sanatorium.  One thousand posts.  One THOUSAND posts.  I can't believe that number.

One thousand times I've written an entry in the book of my family's life.

One thousand times I've clicked publish.

One thousand times.

So much has changed in blogging and in the world at large since that fateful day in November 2008.  So much has changed in my life over the last thousand posts.

I wanted to have a little celebration here in my corner of the internet today, but since I couldn't bake all of you my famous chocolate chip cookies (which I will be doing today for a dear friend's wedding, BTW), I thought a little giveaway would be appropriate.

$50 gift card to my favorite of all favorites--the big red bull's-eye.
What do you have to do to be entered in the contest?

This may sound shallow of me (and it is, quite frankly), but I would really like to get to 300 followers before Google eliminates this tracking method from their system, so if you're not a follower, please click on the box in the column to the right and become a follower.

Then, simply leave a comment on this post.  Tell me what your favorite types of posts are, what your favorite post or photo of mine has been, what you'd like to have me write about, whatever.

I'll be spending the weekend in my family room watching General Conference with my family, eating treats and trying to listen.  When I venture back to the blogging world on Monday, I will pick a winner, so make sure your comment is posted by midnight on Sunday.

Thanks for being my friends and making my little corner of cyberspace such a happy place.

One-thousandth publish click.

Go.

  1. Congratulations! I love when you write about the home improvement projects you have done, and what you have found at auctions. I also love that your style of writing is relatable for me. It seems you don't sugar coat your life, you are who you are and that is that. Thank you for sharing your life's journey, the good, the bad, the pretty and ugly. Enjoy conference this weekend!

  3. I love reading about your kids and how you mother them. My kiddos are 6, almost 3 (next week!) and one on the way. I'm grateful that you share the good and the bad. It helps me relate to you as a mother and see that just like you I can have bad days and I can choose to create good days.
My most recent favorite was a little while ago you posted a picture with Evie and she had a paci in her mouth and I thought "OK, Evie still has her's, I'm not that terrible for letting my daughter still have one (or three)" Then just a couple days ago you posted about how Evie is done with pacifiers. Hopefully, that will motivate me to get rid of ours, maybe!
    Thanks for continuing to blog.

  4. Congratulations!
I have a confession to make. I have read over and over the birth stories of all the Denton siblings. And sometimes I cry. Really, I've thought more than once that I need to thank you for being willing to talk about infertility and miscarriage. These are sometimes taboo subjects for whatever reason, but it has meant the world to me to know that we are not the only ones who have gone through this, and there are lots of happy endings in store. So those are my favorite posts.
Out of curiosity, is the dear friend's wedding Ashley Tucker? I wish I could be there!

I remember way back when you used to post about Survivor....how many years ago was that? I love the posts regarding your family, your home, auctions, deep soulful stuff....I guess all of it.

  17. Wow! You are prolific! I'm not sure I'm even half as awesome as you.

Your posts are always fun and insightful and honest.

I loved the one that you devoted a week to speaking about the church.
    Very good.

I too am looking forward to conference. We've had some challenges in the Garden that have been trying. Dang the serpent.
We actually got tickets for the Sunday afternoon session, so we'll be treking to Utah to enjoy that.

  25. I am "your 300" in your 300 followers!
I have absolutely no idea how I came to follow your blog, probably through a friend of a friend... But what I do know is that I love your blog, and I really enjoy getting to know you and your family.
For me you are a great example of what motherhood is all about. Thank you for sharing your feeling with all of us, feelings about your faith, your love for your children (here or in heaven), your hobbies...
One of my favorites "published" posts was the one you wrote about your oldest daughter...when you were letting her go and start a new life with her new husband. She was your masterpiece.
It is true that as a mother we are trying our best to raise children knowing that one day they will leave us and start wonderful things by themselves.

Elodie, your French follower living in Austria, but when I started to follow your blog I was living in Tajikistan! See your good influence is reaching in far corner of this earth!

  26. Great Job! I love the pictures of your family just doing ordinary family things. Your growth in faith has been most helpful to me on many occasions. Sometimes I think we are cut from the same fabric.

  30. Congrats on 1,000, Jen. Of course, I am an long-time follower, but if I could join up again I would.

    =)

PS. My favorite posts are the ones about your family, but I also love the ones where you find bargain items and make them over, or when you make a whole room over. And I like the ones where you pick a word for New Year's, too. Actually, I like them all...

  32. WooHoo! Congrats on the big milestone, I know I've missed your giveaway, but that's okay--how weird would it be for me to stop by & demand you personally take me to Target to spend it? Weird! And, I don't think I could have stopped myself :) I love the ideas about parenting the older kids, you are a couple of steps ahead of me on that path, and I love learning from your experiences.
