Blogging Bonus

At least two of my kids have this amazing talent. Can you do it? I can't.

It's happened several times over the past few weeks.

Someone I know (or even a stranger) approaches me at the school or at a party or in line at Target with a slightly embarrassed/uncomfortable look on their face.

"You don't know me, but . . . " or "You don't know this, but . . . "

Each time, I've been a little concerned. What's wrong? What did my kid do to your kid?

". . . but I love your blog."

Really?  That's fantastic!

I'm always surprised and flattered when this happens. I mostly write my blog to keep track of my crazy family, and having others share in our journey is the buttercream frosting.

A friend of a friend's sister liked a post and forwarded it. One of Ben's friends was looking at pictures and read a few of my posts. Or whatever rabbit trail got you to the Sanatorium.

Thanks for reading. Thanks for commenting. Thanks for sharing it with others.

Most of all, thanks for telling me that you enjoy reading it. It takes time to maintain a blog--time to take and edit photos, time to write a quick post about something funny, and it especially takes time to write posts that mean something to me.

Thanks for reading. If you ever see me out and about, I'd love to meet you, so stop me and say, "You don't know this, but . . ." and I'll know exactly what you mean.

Note: I received a kind email from a reader named Lois, regarding education and master's degrees. I read it and was thinking about an answer, when I accidentally deleted it. If you're Lois, please email me again. I'd love to discuss this with you. If you're not Lois, please disregard this strange comment.

  1. Pretty sure I resemble this! And now that I've outted myself I suppose I'm not a true stalker. It's obvious that this is a labor of love, and while your primary purpose may be to document family life we are all greater for your efforts.

  3. I've always loved reading your blog and watching your kids grow up. I haven't been able to find time and comment as much these days but I'm still here :) It would be awesome if I ever get to randomly run into you while shopping too. It'll be like meeting a real life hero!

  4. I went to high school with Kara from life with fingerprints and found your blog from hers. I've kept reading after seeing you had a kiddo with a club foot, our 6 year old has bilateral club feet. And after reading about your foster that went back to family I was hooked. We lost our baby girl after 14 months to her legal (not bio) dad a year ago. Not many other people know the heartache that comes from that.

  5. I can't remember how I stumbled across the Sanatorium, but I'm glad I did. I've laughed some, learned some and thoroughly enjoyed my visits. Sometime I'll call you to say 'I'm in town, please meet me for tea'. I think that would be fun.
