They'll Be Home for Christmas

Merry Christmas Adam to you all!

What? You've never heard of this holiday? Why, it's what comes before Christmas Eve, silly!

My kids never tire of that joke. Somehow it makes Christmas seem even closer than the day after tomorrow.

Heidi's family arrived late last night. Brad's parents flew in from Salt Lake, and his brother will drive down today. I actually got to TALK to Ben on the phone for the duration of a three-minute international phone card. It made me smile the rest of the day. He tried to impress me with his Spanish (and I thought it was a Peruvian phone operator for a collect call, so I was more confused than impressed), and he sounded so happy. Can't wait to Skype with him at 4 pm Christmas Day.

We gathered the extended family together for dinner and cookie decorating last night. Monopoly, Catan, cards, even started a 1000-piece Christmas puzzle. Little ones stayed up way too late and ate way too much sugar and were forced to hug way too many people.

I want to savor every minute.

Happy Christmas Adam, everyone.

  1. Quinn always thought it was funny that his birthday is a holiday at your house! I remember when your little kids found out his birthday was on Christmas Adam, they were so sad for him. Enjoy having so many of your family members close enough to hug!
