This is the first time in the history of back to school days at the Dentons that I forgot to ask the kids the traditional back-to-school questions and measure them!

Rum

49.5" tall (1.5" taller than last year)
56.5 lb. (6.5 lb heavier than last year)

Hyrum had to think about them a bit before he wrote the answers in his journal.

If you had $1,000, what would you buy? If I had 1,000 dollars, I would use it to bribe siblings into doing things and then they forget for me to pay them. First, I would buy Jello people to use as targets for my BB gun. Then a new room for Hyrum, and a TV for my room, complete with Wii and Xbox Kinect.

(I was secretly thrilled that he started his answer by including the prompt. I hope his grammar teacher is just as thrilled.)

The kids were all smiles at the crosswalk yesterday morning. And it's fun to run into your best buddies as you head into school.

Unlike last year, Eve walked in without too much fear. She dropped her stuff at her desk . . .

. . . and left for the playground without a look back.

All four of them came home from school with stories that were happy and good and funny--stories that held promise for a fantastic year ahead. I think it's going to be a good one.
