It's a Boot Day

It's supposed to hit 90 degrees in the desert today--time to pull out flip flops and sunscreen.

But today's a boot day.

My dad is having some minor foot surgery today, and while he's glad some of his foot problems will be alleviated, he won't be able to wear his boots for a while. And that may be the most painful repercussion of the whole procedure. I feel his pain.

I wear boots today to honor the man who taught me to love boots--the look and the details. The man who taught me to love leather--the smell and the feel. The man who taught me the difference between work boots and dress boots--and if you don't know the difference, it's time you learned.

Love you, Dad. May your toes heal quickly so your boots don't collect dust on the shelf.

And until then . . .
. . . I got your back.
