It's my baby boy's birthday today.

He's nine years old.

I can't believe that.

This kid really doesn't demand a lot of attention around here. He did ask me to take him to breakfast for his birthday, and he surprised the waitress when he ordered eggs over easy. Guess that's what big kids order, eggs over easy. "What's the point if the yolk isn't runny and gooey and yummy?"

His stomach isn't as big as his eyes are, however. When they brought his plate, he looked down and said, "Wow. That's a lot of food. I can handle it. But just in case I get full too fast . . . BACON FIRST!"

I love this kid.
Those chocolate eyes barely mask the mischief in his soul, but his kindness to little kids and his mama is always on display.

Happy #9 Rum! Hope your party/battle this afternoon is as epic in reality as it is in your head.

Love you, buddy.
