Christmas preparations for a family of nine:

0 trips to Walmart (why, I don't know)
2 doctors' appointments (Eve and Micah)
3 casts (black, green, and now red)
4 malls (Superstition, Fiesta, Chandler, Tempe Marketplace)
5 packages mailed
6 different ideas on gifts for one child, none of which will work
7 kids' wishes filled
8 trips to Target (wish that were an exaggeration--it might be 9)
9 days left until the big day
10 hours I spent shopping in one day (and that was just one day . . .)

And don't forget #1: One exhausted mom. This year's Christmas preparations have taught me one thing:

Epiphany #106: Arising at 3 am on Black Friday is totally worth the craziness to avoid hours and hours and days later in the season.
Karen, never again will I forgo our Black Friday zaniness!

In other news, Baby Girl slept from 9:30 until 5:30 this morning. I was in bed by 11, and I can't remember the last time I slept 6 1/2 hours straight. Why do I feel even more tired today? Maybe because my to-do list is longer than the nine days I have to complete it! Today is my last day to shop . . . it has to be!

Happy but exhausted holidays to you!

PS. Let the craziness continue. (But I am swearing to be completely done by Saturday night.) Swearing!

  2. Yesterday I got a trip to Target and Costco in. And I think I am officially done! Yeah! I'm going to sit down and wrap this morning and make sure I'm not missing something. Don't you hate that when you THINK you have everything, but when you really get to it, you've missed something! I'm so glad you got sleep! You might feel more tired, but it helps in the long run! Last night, my husband did the 3:30 feeding for me and then let me sleep in! I slept from 2:00 - 8:00. I think he was tired of me being in a bad mood all the time. It felt so good!

  3. You know Eve slept because I held her at lunch and 'fixed' her like my kids who all pretty much slept through the night!

Really I am just glad for you! I think I am done - but I did miss the Black Friday Frenzy.
