Karen from Still Crazy after All These Years, her daughter Katie, and her granddaughters Mia and Hayden.
Katie is living here in Mesa for a few months and Karen came to help her settle in. The little kids and I were happy to spend lunch with them on Thursday. Kinda crazy with four tiny kids, but the food was fabulous and the friends even better.
It's funny how you can become friends through cyberspace. Catherine in New Zealand. Paige in England. Jen in Japan. Dana in the tundra of Canada. Pam in Massachusetts. Natalie in Georgia. Sarah in Ohio. Jen in North Carolina. Jennifer and Laura in Texas. Kerry in Pennsylvania. Jackie in Kansas City. Kristin in Michigan. Julie and Cindy in Illinois. Cherie in Idaho. Gabe in Wisconsin. Keely in Oregon. Dawn and Susan in Colorado. Sue and Andrea in California. Kristen and Jess and Anna in Utah. And the list could go on and on.
I guess it's just like old-time pen pals. Only better.
And if any of the rest of you cyber-chums are ever in the Valley of the Sun, ya better let me know. Lunch is on me!
How far away is Mesa from Scottsdale? Not far right? the next time I'm in town visiting my best friend, I may just have to ring you! I too have forged some friendships through cyberspace and it is rad.

ReplyDeleteI had no idea when I created my blogger account less than a year ago...how much I would come to enjoy the women I feel like I know. I don't always have a lot to say on my blog...but I sure love reading everyone elses! I hope to meet some of you for real someday! :)

I have been able to meet quite a few blog friends and it sure is a wonderful thing to meet these people you've never laid eyes on in person,but yet you already know them.

ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Jen. Love the friendships I've struck up since blogging. Some of these are much deeper than the ones I have in my own town. Writers have such an easier time sharing what's in their hearts, I have found.

It's like having a pen pal but with instant gratification - no long wait for a return letter. I've really enjoyed the few actual meetings I've had - no surprises, just a lovely familiarity.
