25 Years--The Beginning

June 23, 1989
I watched the sun come up, standing on the corner of the squeaky bed in my grandparents' spare bedroom that I had shared with my sister that night.

He pulled up in the burgundy hatchback with the mirrored side panels. I had never cared much about cars, but this one was special. We had spent a day in Salt Lake, test driving many and finally deciding on a 1984 Honda Accord. Today, he was driving us to the Salt Lake Temple in Our Car--the first either of us had ever owned.

The temple was busy that day. Of the 45 weddings scheduled, we were number 23--number 23 on June 23rd at 10:25 am.

He forgot his tux. My veil was too tight.

He slicked his hair. I braided mine.

It sprinkled. We danced on the grass.  Around and around until he'd had enough.

We were young, and we were in love.

And we had no idea what was ahead.

We just knew we would do it together.

Today is our 25th wedding anniversary.

25 years of memories--I'm going to celebrate all week.

I hope you'll join me.
