Painting over His Toddlerhood

While we were gone to California, someone disappeared from our home. Look closely behind the couch.
Can you see him? Look closer.
Now do you see him?
Much of the main level of our house was repainted while we were gone, and I was only sad for Little Guy on the Wall. He's been in our family for years now--longer than Eve or any of the grandkids.

Hyrum is my only child that drew on the walls. The rest would make marks, but Hyrum drew pictures. Little Guy on the Wall was one of his first drawings, done when he was two or three years old. I've repainted this wall twice, and each time I carefully painted around him. Every time I looked at him, it made me smile and reminded me of cute toddling Hyrum--who is also my only child who likes to draw for fun today.

Little Guy on the Wall is gone. Little Hyrum is gone.

The days are long, but the years are short.

  1. It all goes by so fast, doesn't it? Glad you got a pic of Little Hyrum for posterity.
